The EYFS or Early Years Foundation Stage is the curriculum which is followed by the majority of Early Years Settings. It is also the curriculum your child will follow until the end of Reception. We will be following the revised EYFS from September 2021.
The EYFS areas of learning are:
- communication and language.
- physical development.
- personal, social and emotional development.
- literacy.
- mathematics.
- understanding the world.
- expressive arts and design.
The full curriculum can be found here –
The Department for Education has released a new guide for parents to go alongside the new EYFS. This gives guidance as to what to expect as your child goes through the stages of the EYFS. Please see the link below;
At First Steps we aim to support parents and carers in their understanding of the EYFS through Parent Consultations, Curriculum Days and through information at pre-school.
